In The past few weeks chaos has reigned in Thailand. There has been deadly confrontation between red shirt protesters and the Thai armed forces. Leading the protesters is multi millionaire Thaksin Shinawatra. Many red shirts consider Thaksin to be a hero because of his involvement in developing the many poor and rural area’s of Thailand. Since his self imposed exile Thaksin has given many speeches to encourage his followers to fight Abhisit’s government which he accused of double standard. Sometimes to boost the morale in his followers sometimes Thaksin has even compared himself to great world leaders such as Ghandi claiming that like Ghandi he will use Ahimsa (non violence) to overthrow abhisit’s government. To date what he has said has all been nothing but lies as there has been much acts of violence committed by the Red shirt protesters (following his orders). Since the Army’s crack down on the red shirt pro test site a cache of grenades, m-16 rifles and gun ammo has been found, proving that the protesters had no intent of keeping things peaceful. Things started turning for the worse when the Thai government seized 46 billion baht worth of his assets. I’m sure he wasn’t a happy camper and since then he’s been trying to get his money back.
On may 15 2010 Thaksin was spotted shopping with his daughter at Champs-Elysees in paris, and the reason that I write this is because I feel that Thaksin is using his influence and wealth to trick the very people that support him. Picture this scenario thousands of your supporters all willing to die for you and your cause while you (because of your exile) fly to Paris for a weekend of shopping for Louis vuitton bags. Did Ghandi fly to Italy to shop for Armani while his people were protesting against the british? Great leaders were extra ordinary because they were on the front lines with fighting with there people. That is why to this day Ghandi is still loved amongst the Indian people plus he didn’t have a few million stashed away somewhere in a Swiss bank account. It was just on May 19 that the red shirt leaders all decided to turn themselves into the authorities. Many red shirt supporters were angered because there leaders gave up the fight. Can ya blame them I would be pissed too! Doesn’t the captain always go down with there sinking ship? Isn’t this enough evidence to show Thaksin’s supporters that their leader is a fraud? Think about all the homes, business’ and lives that have been lost, all this over some one who was cunning enough to trick people into believing that what he stood for was legit. In my eyes Thaksin could never in a million years be compared to the loving and compassionate character of Ghandi.
